There’s a full version of Pendet on Youtube and if you compare the two, you’ll see that they are rather similar. Both Gabor and Pendet are welcoming dances that were originally meant for religious and sacred events. This dance was first created in 1969 by I Gusti Raka and later revised by I Wayan Beratha in 1970.Throughout the Melasti Celebration in Bali, villagers are required to dress in their finest garments with umbrellas and bringing flowers, sacred sculptures as well as fruits which will be offered when they reach the sacred springs or the sea.

A large group of men provide the soundtrack by repeating a rhythmic “ke-cak ke-cak” throughout the performance.
